When the ancestors of Chuxi first established their business, they built the "Heqing Tower" at the place where the three divine deer had vanished. Since then, the weather has been favorable and the population has been thriving. Eighteen descendants have come into being one after another, and each of them is strong and healthy. While feeling relieved, housing has also become a problem. So, in the 17th year of Yongle in the Ming Dynasty (1419), the "Jiqing Tower" was built. Like other Hakka Tulou buildings in Yongding, Jiqing Tower was also meticulously crafted in accordance with the "Nine Palaces and Eight Trigrams" of traditional Chinese culture, adapting to local conditions. When the building was first constructed, 72 staircases from bottom to top were used to divide the entire circular building into 72 independent units, which also coincided with the multiple of the "Nine Palaces and Eight Trigrams" (9 multiplied by 8 equals 72), symbolizing that all things in the universe are auspicious and prosperous. The rooms in Jiqing Building are connected to the staircase and partition walls with fir wood, and all are tightly joined together with wooden falcon heads. Without using a single iron nail, it is firm and beautiful, leaving the world in awe.
